The Boys (The Girls)
I was uploading a Youtube video today of a few of “the boys” playing some good ol outdoor puck this weekend and typing the term “the boys” can return some pretty interesting search results. Nevertheless, it made me turn inward a bit and think of this concept; equally termed by our female counterparts as “the girls”. You know that group, some from day one, some newer, but just that group, where everyone seems to get it. It’s like home
.
Well our group has been together for a long time, but it’s more in the quality perhaps of the relationships that it can impact your health, joy, business and goals in such a positive way. The group that’s always there, sort of the default, the foundation of social circles. In the meantime you may work in a different country, pursue varied interests, or build networks elsewhere. It doesn’t matter what goals you chase, what people you meet, the place you can always call home, socially is with “the boys” or “the girls”
.
That group, where no matter your ups and downs in life, or all the “idiots” you have to battle in the other world, when the dust settles they’ll be there for you and hopefully as much as possible you can get together, like the good old days. You might go on a road trip, hit up a cottage, or in this case play some shinny
.
I think it’s important to point out how grateful I am for having this group. I write almost every day, work in education, business, content creation and interact with many people, so I think explicitly pointing out the idea of how thankful you are for your tribe is important. Equally important is appreciating that many others often don’t have an opportunity to have such a solid group from day one and that we should do our best to help them build their own social network, their own group within which they feel safe and excited to be together
