TGIF Or Just Another Day ?

Working for the Weekend
#jkltip Be aware of the weight you give specific days of the week, like; “ugh it’s Monday” or“hump day only two to go” or “tgif” often times it is a sign that something needs to change

Let me start by saying I also say TGIF. I think it’s ok because it has taken on a life of social meaning of its own, almost a part of routine speech in the workplace.
But be cautious of the underlying meaning. Working for the weekend or the thought that the work week ending is a good thing tempts us into up and down patterns, yo-yos of good day-bad day and our happiness becomes a result, often times of circumstance.
You owe it to yourself to find a career, or create working conditions and build a psyche in which days are just days. We don’t have to thank the Lord that the week is over.
Here’s the thing that is important. You’re appreciation for spending time with loved ones, recharging through rest and taking time to reflect and strategize. If these things fall on Saturday and Sunday, the weekend, that’s great, just remember they’re just other days. Oh, and TGIF…
