Most People Want You To Win “Those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind”, is true yet, like many cliches, we fail to act like it. Here’s the thing, most people do want you to win, good people want to see others accomplish. And frankly you probably can’t change the other’s beliefs, but you can focus on support from those who “get it”
.
For years I’ve wanted to make videos, share ideas, spark conversations, create art for the sake of creating, but I would keep quiet because I could hear the haters saying “he loves the sound of his own voice” or “he’s cocky, really into himself”
.
This actually happened in person once, funny enough from a ‘leader’ on my team. At the time it was intimidating, looking back it’s sad, how someone can have you pegged so wrong, “a brothers in arms” so to speak. If there is shade there, you sure can find it anywhere
.
What I’ve come to realize, is people with this reaction may know me a long time, colleagues, or acquaintances, but do not truly know me, or their own insecurities are creating a fog. In order for me to improve, to create, to put myself out there, each step along the way I face great fear to do it; learn to shelve unnecessary dislike; value appropriate feedback; remind myself of good intentions; find failure and dips to learn from; and just decide that those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind (Finally!)
